2018 Goals Update

My friend Lissa just posted about her goal progress for the year, which made me want to check out my own goals. I make an Achievement Board every year, with small and mostly attainable goals. As I meet my goals, I fill in the squares and sometimes make new ones.

So let's talk about my goals... the ones I met, the ones I'm working on, and the ones that just aren't going to happen.

Goals I've met:
*3250 Instagram followers: I met that goal and made a new one to get 3750. I'm actually in the 3600s now, so I might meet that new goal!
*Do an Obstacle Race: this is a bit of a stretch, but I did do an inflatable race, that did involve obstacles, so I'm totally counting it!
*Go Ziplining...

*complete the Coach Jenny Challenge: I finished the National Parks Challenge last week, and look forward to finding out what next year's challenge will be.
*raise $1400 for MDA: I met this, raised it twice more, and now my goal is $2250. I'm currently at just over $2000!
*2018 Run This Year challenge: my team finished this months ago. I am waiting to see if I can complete it myself again, and I believe I'm currently at about 1450 miles.
*200 day MFP streak: I met this goal and then I started switching around apps. I have no idea what my streak is now, but it is over 300 days.
*coach 5th season of GOTR: done! The Fall season would have been my 6th, but the school I was supposed to coach at is brand new and wasn't prepared for the program yet. Hopefully Spring 2019 will be better!
*read 50 books: I am at almost 60 for the year. Volunteering at a book store is certainly helping with this!
*beat a 52:50 trail 5k: done! I ran a trail 5k in 48ish minutes in June. Because of my winter injury, there will be no other PRs this year!
*run my 60th half: the Scream Half Marathon was my 60th, and what a race it was!
*Zooma Challenges: I completed the Run Love Challenge and the Summer Challenge!
*Get Yoga Teacher Certified...

*Visit the Mother Ship (Skirt Sports HQ) done! I visited in June when I was in Colorado for a race!
*30 day yoga streak: I'm on day 67ish

There are many that I have yet to complete, but also a few that just won't happen. I will not be Beating the Bridge or running a 50k, due to injury. My triathlon got cancelled because of Florence. I don't think I will complete 25 races, I am only at 13, and I doubt I will run 12 more before end of year. I'm ok with that, my injury made it a little hard to race. Maybe next year!

It's almost time to start thinking about my word for 2019. Hmmmmmm

Not Quite Wordless Wednesday, Class Pass Live Edition

I am writing about Class Pass Live because I think it's awesome, I am not being reimbursed in any way!

A couple of weeks ago I started noticing ads on Facebook for Class Pass Live, a workout app using Google Chrome Cast and a heart monitor. It reminds me a bit of how I imagine Orange Theory might be.

I could be wrong, I've never been there. Anyway, you hook up the Google Cast thingie and sync the heart rate monitor to it, and then you work out.

You can do the workouts live throughout the day, although I haven't tried that yet. The instructors actually know you are there and talk to you. Whaaaaat? Awesome.

You can also do workouts on demand and they have some from all over the country. Before my heart monitor came I did a Barry's Boot Camp!

They have barre, weights, yoga, cardio, anything you can think of!

Today I hooked it up and tried it out. I chose a kickboxing workout, but I rushed around to get ready and my heart rate was high at the start.

You get more points when you workout in the right zone, so it took me the whole workout to master that! I didn't finish last, though.

My first goals are 1000 points in one workout and top 10. I also plan to do a workout live to see the difference in the energy!

Have you tried Class Pass Live yet? I'm in love! It's a gym feel without leaving the house!

I Need Workout Help!

You know how it goes. You get in a rut and fall back on old ways. Running and a little bit of yoga is all I seem to be doing!

I'm trying to shake things up, so I've ordered Class Pass Live, and I'm waiting for ChromeCast and the Heart Rate Monitor to get here. I can try it out until they arrive, which is cool!

This morning I did a Boot Camp class with Barry's Boot Camp, omitting weights during the lower body portion, since I have a long run tomorrow.

I cannot wait to be able to watch it on my TV. My iPad mini is...well...mini!

I have BeachBody on Demand as well.

Any suggestions on ways to mix it up and keep it interesting? I have a gym membership but I mostly use it for yoga I'm not gonna lie!

Gatorade Endurance for When Fall is Still Summer

I received Gatorade Endurance Formula as part of being a BibRave Pro. (Ambassador) Check out BibRave.com to read and write race reviews.

Seriously, y'all, it's still super hot and humid here. Our mornings are starting to cool off a bit, but the afternoons will melt you! We won't see legit Fall weather here until around Thanksgiving, I kid you not.

That's where Gatorade Endurance Formula comes in. As a pace group running coach, I can't change up my runs to suit the weather. We run on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday every week, no matter what the weather is like. Sunday is going to be 10 degrees cooler than Saturday this week? Tough.

I fill my water bottle with Watermelon Endurance Formula every week to get me through these crazy runs. With twice the sodium and three times the potassium of Gatorade Thirst Quencher, this is just what my body needs to get me though these summer long runs.

I've ways been a water only girl during the run, so I make sure to drink a bottle of Gatorade while I prep in the morning, and usually finish it on my drive to the store. Each serving has 22g of carbs to get me started, and it absorbs really quickly into the bloodstream. By the time the run has started, I am ready to go! It has a nice watermelon taste, not too strong, which I love!

I usually prep it the night before, so that it's nice and cold when I wake up in the morning.

Be on the lookout this weekend for my Instagram stories. On Friday I will be posting about prepping for a long run, and on Saturday? Well, I will be posting all day about how Gatorade gets me through an 8 mile long run and then through a 4 hour bicycle scavenger hunt! I am going to need all the help I can get!

Endurance Formula also comes in Lemon Lime, Orange, and Cherry. What flavor will you try?

Brilliant Reflective vs. TS Florence

I received a Brilliant Reflective Family Pack as part of being a BibRave Pro. (Ambassador) Check out BibRave.com to read and write race reviews.

It's no secret that I adore Brilliant Reflective strips. When I first heard about the Family Pack, I was thinking that they weren't for me. My "baby" is 19. Do I need cute reflective stickers?

Then I thought... why not? Why do I have to be a youngin to make my gear look cute?
As always, they were super easy to put on.

Seriously, y'all. They are peel and stick. So freaking cute!

I put these strips on everything, which isn't news. They are on every shirt I run in, plus my bicycle and helmet. Safety is so important, especially when you live near a big city and you run in the dark!

Last week I had an epiphany. The ultimate crazy use for a Brilliant Reflective stick ons! It came to me when I noticed that one of the houses up the street had their mail box hit. Again. This happens to these poor people every few months. The theory is that it is hard to see our black mailboxes at night, making them prime targets.

Hmmmmm

I went out and applied these fun reflective stickers to our mailbox. It's been hit once and now it doesn't always close right. If it gets hit again, we will have to replace it.
Brilliant Reflective to the rescue. It took about 3 days for the hubs to notice!

Nothing gets by this guy! He also commented that maybe I should have waited a few days. Why?

Not only were we directly in the path of Florence, she was going to turn right in our area before heading north. This meant 3 days of constant rain and wind.

There was some flooding. I went out to my mailbox yesterday, after the storm was over, to take these pics...

It's like it never rained! My mailbox can still be seen at night!

I'm still trying to think of other unusal ways to use my amazing Brilliant Reflective strips, and what's left of my Family Pack. Any ideas?

For now, check out their website and use our discount code for 30% off of your order!

Scooby Doo Virtual Run, #DooGood 5k

My pups and I received entries into the Scooby Doo Virtual Challenge as part of being a BibRave Pro. (Ambassador). Check out BibRave.com to read and write race reviews!

We are pretty active with our pups, Memphis and Nugget, plus I'm a huge Scooby Doo fan, so entering the Scooby Doo Virtual Challenge was a no brainer. Living in the South, we had to make some adjustments, however.

Memphis could probably do all 3.1 at once but this little princess poops out after a mile on hot days, which is all we have here in SC right now, even with Flo on her way! We started with a practice walk, to get in the mood!

We broke the run/walk into 3 segments of about a mile each. This kept Nugget happy, and Memphis just goes with the flow, as long as the flow keeps him walking in the front. He's kind of bossy that way!

For the third and final run, we made it super official.

A start line makes everything more fun!

Of course, throughout the whole mile, Memphis had to stay in front. Such a bossy boy, and not at all a gentleman!

Nugget started to pull ahead when Memphis got distracted by our neighbor's dog, and stopped to snoop around.

Nugget is the winner! What does she win? Pretty much the same thing as Memphis!

This adorable bandana and puppy medal! Once they arrive I will post pics! So cute!

They also got "Scooby Snacks" of course!

You can join us on this fun adventure!

Just use the code BIBRAVE for 10% off. The Scoobtober 10k is coming next month as well! Act fast, the 5k will be closing registration on September 20th! You can also register for the Challenge until September 20th, and can add your pups for so they can have the cute Pup Swag!

Which race will you do?
