Thursday Training Update

Another week closer to NYC Marathon training and training for Disney actually started this week. This totally cracks me up since NYC is first!  Either way, I'm ready to get started!
Thursday I ran 4 miles, hot and humid miles, but I survived!

Friday was a rest day.
Saturday I ran 3 miles with Fleet Feet and took core class before hand. I was hanging with the back of the pack and it was hot and nasty, so they were some slow miles.

Sunday we walked two dogs on the Thread Trail since it was kind of nice out. By nice, I mean around 75 at 8 am. We walked a little over 2 miles.
Monday, I ran my first Disney training run. I managed just about 3.5 miles in those 45 minutes on the plan. It wasn't too hot, but it was super humid!

The boy asked me to go on an adventure later that day. I thought he meant a golf cart ride, since it was over 90, but he meant a hike. We walked 2.5 miles on the Thread Trail and had Morgan pick us up at the end of it instead of walking the 2 miles back like we usually do.
It was seriously hot!

Wednesday, the Zooma Summer Challenge called for a barre class so I dug out an old DVD set and did 2 classes before WW. They were really old, but the workouts were good. And I was down .2 at my meeting. Not what I hoped for, but way better than gaining.

I also ran 2 miles with FLEET feet that night. It was a great run, everybody pushed really hard and banged out those 2 miles like a champion.

On Wednesday I did a 2 mile track workout for the Zooma Summer Challenge, although I did it at home. I can't find the pictures, though. Blogger fail.

Tomorrow begins the Skirt Sports 31 Days of Skirts Instagram challenge. Check it out, and join in. They are giving away prizes!

Getting Organized for Marathon Training

It's time to get real, so I have been spending my free time this week getting Organized for NYC marathon training! The training plan for Disney also went live this weekend and it starts Tuesday so I have a few things to add to my plan.
The Zooma Summer Challenge begins tomorrow, so I will also be adding those workouts to my planner tomorrow. This challenge has participants trying new workouts and new foods!

My planner begins on July 1, so this is my mini planner until then....

My goal weight chart...

My planner is daily. I have it divider into sections for workouts, goals, chores, what I'm reading, and my daily bible study. Once a month, on the 1st, I will also do measurements. I still need a few fun stickers to brighten it up, so a trip to etsy is in order!

I had to add this.. it was on the wall at a wine bar we visited last night!

What do you do to get organized?

Thursday Training Update

Time for a training update! I am still in pre-training until July 17, and then the serious stuff starts happening!
So Thursday I did Insanity Pure Cardio. This stuff really kicks my butt!

Friday was a hot and humid run. I ran with the Zombies Run app, and ended up with 2.72 miles when the mission was over.

Saturday was a group run with Fleet Feet that started with Core Class which always kicks my butt. Debbie is a crazy woman.  Anyway, we had a 2.75 mile run, but there was construction so it was altered a bit, ending up at 2.83 instead. And Terry rescued a turtle while we were running, which was fun!

Sunday was a rest day. We spent the day doing whatever the hubs wanted, since it was Father's Day.
Monday I ran 3 miles with Ali. We ran a 3:1 for the most part. Ali is faster than me, and it always pushes me to run a little faster.

Tuesday was supposed to be a track workout with Fleet Feet, but I ended up with a migraine and had to bail. I was really looking forward to it! I ended up walking in front of the TV to get my steps instead.
Wednesday was a rest day. I ran a lot of errands and we walked the dogs.

A few extra pics.....
From Tuesday's Weight Watchers meeting...
And I finished another country in Coach Jenny's Grand Prize Challenge!

Judge Not....

It seems that social media is rampant with people judging other people's actions and beliefs these days.
Should guns be legal?
Should that poor little boy's parents be watching him closer?
And so on.
Our development has a Facebook page and it is often filled with people shaming others. This person cut me off on this road. This person drove too fast. With photos of license plates.

This week we got a new toy. They are super popular in our development for traveling to parties, the pool, the park, the tennis courts. It's hot here in SC, and the cart is much cooler than traveling in your car. It's also battery operated so we are saving gas and the environment.
And they're fun.
You can throw a cooler in the back, grab some towels, and hit the pool. When you get there, guaranteed there will be 4 other carts lined up in the lot.
Foolishly I posted this pic on Facebook, because we wanted our local friends to see it, and because we were happy.

Sassy, right?
And so began the shaming and the judging.
Well gee, I hope you actually play golf.
Do you really need that?
You know those things tip over, right?
And so on.
You know how it goes.

Do I need it?
Nope.
Let's be real, who really needs a golf cart?
But.
We moved to a new area. All of my friends are back in Jersey. Many of my new friends drive these. It's very popular here in SC. Many strip malls have actual golf cart parking.
For real.
And do you see what I'm doing here?
Now I'm trying to justify my purchase.

Whose business is it whether or not I buy a golf cart? Just mine.
Whatever happened to the days when we were just happy for each other? When did it become okay to type something we would never say to someone face to face?
I'm on a new mission and I owe it all to Tim McGraw. Let's all just need Humble and Kind.

Thursday Training Update

I haven't done an update in a couple of weeks. I have been plugging along, but my daughter is home from college and I'm distracted for sure! I also tweaked my knee a little just after Annapolis, so I'm taking it easier and modifying a lot.
Thursday I ran the Virtual Running Shorts 5k. It was a cool morning but the humidity was insane and it definitely kicked my butt a little!

Friday I spent over 2 hours cleaning and organizing the garage. We got a pimped out golf cart last night and we spent the last two weeks making room for it.
Saturday was mentoring with Fleet Feet. We met at Winthrop University and did 2.5 easy miles. It was a bit hot and humid but the scenery was amazing.

Sunday I hit the gym with the hubs. The elliptical was taken so I hit the bike and then walked on the treadmill and did some pilates stretches. Afterwards, we went and checked out a local mall that had an aquarium in it! Fun!

Monday I started Insanity with a Fit Test, walked the pups, and hit the elliptical at the gym.

Tuesday was Plyometric Cardio Circuit, an hour in the pool, and a little over a mile with Fleet Feet before storms called off our second mile.
Wednesday I started Cardio Resistance but only got halfway through before the power went out. We had all kinds of problems after that.  Nothing too serious, but it ate up the day. I did squeeze in about 30 minutes of lacrosse with my kids though!

All in all, a pretty good week. Official NYC training starts July 17, so this is just a warm up for the big show!

Summer Workouts, What's Your Fave?

It is definitely summer here in SC, and the temperature is at 70 and humid by 7 am. By noon it's in the 90s.
So let's talk Summer Workouts. I am starting my training for NYC next month, so right now I'm just doing base miles. About 10 a week. I have been doing them as early as possible for obvious reasons!
Today I began Insanity with the Fit Test. Since the garage has no AC, I will be doing this in the living room where it's nice and cool. I got the app for my iPad as well, so I can do it anywhere! I love technology.

I have access to our clubhouse gym. The dread mill gives me foot pain so I mostly stick to the elliptical when it's available. There is also a weight machine that uses bands, but I'm currently intimidated by it! One of these days I will have the Boy show me how to use it!

Running.....

I have access to the pool. I don't think laps are for me, but maybe some water aerobics? Anyone have any ideas? I gotta check out Pinterest on this one! If I wait too long, it will be fun of screaming kids, but today around 10 it was pretty empty and school is out here so I'm guessing the moms wait until lunch time.

So what about you? What workouts are you doing this summer?

Zooma Annapolis Race Recap

As a Zooma Ambassador, I get free race registration. I do have to pay for all travel expenses. All opinions, as always, are my own.
Morgan and I left at the butt crack of dawn so that we could hit DMV on our way to the race. That's a story for another day. We left the area around 8:45 to make the 7 hour drive to Annapolis. It was a fun road trip until we hit DC traffic and it ended up taking almost 10 hours to get there instead. Ugh. We missed the Diversity Workshop but I made it in time for some group photos, and for packet pickup.

The morning of the race, Loews, which was the host hotel, put our quite a spread for the runners!
Group photo from Friday night....
Our roomie Chelsea offered to drive to the start, so we waited for her other friend to arrive and took this pic. This is my daughter Morgan with the pink socks...
While we waited for a group photo at the start, I asked this nice officer to take a selfie with me for the #runchathunt and he was super nice about it!

Ambassador photo! What a great group of ladies!
It was so humid and Morgan was looking pasty, so I offered to run the 10k with her and she was thrilled. I'm not gonna lie, it was an easy decision to make! We did a 3:1 run walk and managed to survive the heat and humidity.

This is the view from the turn around on the bridge. We were almost done at this point. The volunteers and spectators were on point and the signage was incredible. We never had any doubts as to where we should be going as 10k runners.
To the Victors goes the.... bling! And some Pirate Booty, chips, water, and trail mix! Yum!
We had a great time, and I loom forward to the next one!
A few days after we returned, we received this yummy box from one of the sponsors. Boy ate it all and had asked for more!
Wanna Zooma with me?
