Not Even Close to Being Wordless Wednesday

I thought a lot about this post during my training ride today.
That's right, I am still riding my miles for the NYC Marathon, and I am definitely feeling sorry for myself. I know, I know, this is not a real tragedy. It feels that way sometimes, though. It feels like there is nothing worse than blogging about running when you aren't actually running.
I'm not reading other blogs. I'm barely writing my own blog.
But I am having a really huge pity party. There are balloons and everything.
I have started pulling myself out of the abyss this week, with very tiny baby steps.
With the exception of Disney, I haven't missed a training day. Heck, even in Disney I was covering the miles. I have started doing Power Half Hour as well. It is deceptively tough on the body.
I have been eating lots of cupcakes. Yikes. My daughter's High School Grad party was Sunday night and we had leftovers. They are gone now, have no fear.
I have started using my WW app again, and I never stopped using MFP.
I will finish the NYC Marathon, but it's definitely not going to be under 6 hours. It may be closer to 8 at this point and I don't even care. I just want to finish. I know I can finish. I may be slower than a snail in molasses but I will finish.
Sooooo here are some of my recent workouts.

I've Been Tagged!

Darlene from My First 5k and More has tagged me to answer some fun questions!!
What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?
Hmmmmm.....
I used to be a certified fitness trainer. For real. About 15 years ago, I lost over 55 pounds after the birth of my son. I got ISSA Certified and got a job at a Workout World gym. The manager that worked there at the time said some inappropriate things and I walked out and never trained again. I was wayyyyyyyyyy more shy then. I would never have walked out if it happened recently. I let my verification lapse and never tried to train again.
Have you ever met someone famous?
Yes! Jon BonJovi, Richie Sambora, and Joe Pesci, to name a few. Lots of celebrities come to the Jersey Shore.
More importantly, I met Jeff Galloway a few times! Oh, and Dan from Biggest Loser.

What is something you hope will never come back in style?

Bell Bottoms. Really. What were they thinking?

What is one thing on your travel must-see bucket list?
The Eiffel Tower
Ireland
San Francisco

Who would play you in a movie of your life?
Ally Sheedy lol

Who is your favorite Disney princess?

What would you sing at karaoke night?
probably something by Bon Jovi.
or Carrie Underwood.

Who would you want to be stranded on a desert island with?
Bear Grylls. For real, that guy knows his shit.

What clothing item do you have too much of in your closet?
Running skirts and shirts. This doesn't even count my race shirts. It's a jungle in there.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

People who talk/text and drive. If I die young, it will be because one of them hit me while I was running. I'm not even remotely joking, the struggle is real.

OK everyone, answer some, or all, of these questions for me! Tag..... you're it!

Firecracker Five Recap

I started the day with my fourth Firecracker Five, a local five mile race. It's a very hilly race. I probably shouldn't have registered, with all of my aches and pains, but I couldn't resist!
We got there pretty early, so I had plenty of time to stretch my calves and my IT band, hoping to avoid any pain. I got my shirt and bib and then went in search of my friends.

The race starts in front of the Wall Municipal Complex, winds through hilly back roads, and ends back at the Complex. The spectators, volunteers, and support staff are always incredible. The fire department always brings a truck or two to spray water in a couple spots and families come out and give extra water and spray hoses as well. It's notoriously hot e every year, although this year was pretty breezy and not too hot. I still took water at every stop, though.
And a selfie with Dave the Trumpeter, sans beard.

I was worried about my various injuries, and glad when only one troubled me. My Plantar Fasciitis gave me no trouble. At all. Not even a twinge. Score.
IT Band was a little tight but it didn't really slow me down. The stretching and rolling before the race seemed to really help.
Capsulitis, though? Omg I wanted to.cry a few times. My toe just wouldn't uncramp, and my foot hurt for hours afterwards.
I finished at a decent pace, however, and two of my friends won their age group! Plus, women get a long stemmed rose at the finish!

I hope you all have a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Flat Mama Friday

Tomorrow is the Firecracker Five! I love this race, even though it's been hot and rainy every year I have done it! I am hoping for better weather this year! Are you racing this weekend?
