Healthy Snacking on the Go with Food Groove

I received a box of Food Groove Mission Super Food Bites as part of being a BibRave Pro (ambassador). Check out BibRave.com to find, read, and write race reviews.

Snacking on the go can be rough. More often than not, we end up making poor choices because that is what is available to us at the time. I know that I am guilty of this myself. It is so much easier to grab that chocolate bar, or those crackers, or whatever, because that's what is available at the bowling alley, the roller rink, next door to the dance studio, etc.

I have been carrying them around with me for weeks, especially the Nutty Adventurer, which is my favorite. I keep a bag in my purse for those crazy situations where you are hungry but you don't want to eat just any sugary or salty snack that is available. Like above, when we went axe throwing. I knew that we would be eating later than usual, and that it would be pub food, so I snuck in a healthy snack when it wasn't my turn to throw.

You have to be careful, though, when you live with boys. They tend to shop through your stuff, and take it with them. The Boy took some with him on an adventure, as he calls it, which is code for a trail hike with his pup. He took a bag and loved them!

I have been bringing a bag with me when I volunteer at the book store. Why? There is a cupcake shop next door and the struggle is real, y'all. Those cupcakes are ah-mazing and hard to resist when I am hungry. They close an hour after the book store, so I have to be strong!

If you look at the picture below, on the bottom left, the hubs took some to go all day dirt biking. He actually managed to get a pic, unlike the Boy, who failed that mission! He loved them so much that he took two more bags and stowed them in his backpack for future trips. Boys stink.

I took them with me to a race expo last month. I knew that there was a Starbucks and a bagel shop in the Convention Center and I wanted to be sure I behaved myself. It's a longish drive to Charlotte as it is, and then we walked a bit before heading back, which made for a long day.

The peeps at Food Groove were kind enough to send me three flavors to try. The Nutty Adventurer is my fave, because hello! peanut butter! I did enjoy all three! The hubs really likes Mother Earth and the Boy likes the Nutty Adventurer as well. He has to keep his hands off, though. I think his second fave was Holy Truffle Punch.

Ok, it's time for a little info. Super Food Bites are paleo friendly (well, except for the Nutty Adventurer, but I am ok with that), but they do contain paleo protein powder and honey. this means that they are not vegan or vegetarian friendly. Each pouch has 10 bites, and the bag zips closed so you can save some for later. Perfect for when you are on the go, or working out. They are all natural, gluten free, non GMO, dairy free (score!), soy free, and grain free.

They are delicious! Even the Boy really likes them, and he is so picky! Tis is not actually a good thing for me, but at least he is eating healthy snacks!

Food Groove has generously offered us a discount code to be used off of your first purchase! Use the code BIBRAVE15 here and get 15% off!

Training Update

It’s  that time of week again, to recap last week’s workouts. Monday started with a barre class on ClassPass Live. When my debit card got lost I forgot to update my info so I couldn’t use my heart rate monitor but I didn’t let that stop me.

I also coached Girls on the Run, but that didn’t involve much movement.

Tuesday was track workout day. I did 3 miles and later I did some yoga as well.

Wednesday is my favorite day, with a twist now that I’m coaching Girls on the Run again. I taught yoga, had breakfast at Panera while I read my book, and then chilled at home for a bit before coaching. Not too much activity at GOTR again that day.

Thursday was hill repeats. They are not my friend. We did a mile of repeats with a mile warmup and a mile cool down. Not too terrible. We also walked the pups before going out for Valentine’s Day.

Friday was a rest day.
Saturday was long run day. I had one runner doing five and I didn’t ever let anyone run alone, so I did five. It was glorious and my foot is thankful. We also walked the pups a mile.

Sunday we walked the pups and I did yoga. Not a bad way to end the week!

What was your favorite workout this week?

Training Update

Last week didn’t start off so well. On Sunday I had some sort of stomach bug and Monday I was feeling the after effects. I barely ate and rarely left the couch. There was no exercise. At all.
Tuesday I dragged my sorry butt out of bed and ran 3 miles. It wasn’t anything impressive but I got it done! I also walked a mile later with the pups.

Wednesday I teach yoga. It was slower body focus and it about killed me. I was sweating bullets! I cancelled Burn Boot Camp and after my usual self care Wednesday stuff I went home and chilled on the couch.

Thursday was another run day. No one from my pace group showed up so I ran with a gal from the group ahead of mine and she kicked my butt: fastest I’ve run in awhile!! I also taught yoga that night.

Friday ended up being a rest day. My foot really hurt after Thursday’s run!
Saturday was long run day. My foot still hurt so I only managed 5 miles.

We also went axe throwing

Sunday was a rest day. We volunteered at a fundraiser for a neighborhood family so I was running around a bit, but nothing official.
