Flat Mama Saturday

I know, I usually post these on Friday, but I totally forgot! Here is my Flat Mama for the MCM 10k!

I have my Metro Card loaded and ready, and my bag for after is packed as well. My friend Ali and I will be bouncing around DC spectating the marathon after I'm done.

MCM 10k Expo

After a crazy morning of travel, including a plane ride, a crazy Uber driver, the Metro, and a shuttle bus, we made it to the Marine Corps Marathon and 10k expo. We were hearing stories about how long the lines were, so we were a little nervous.

I didn't have time to take a pic of the lines.... because there weren't any! Score! I got my bib and shirt without waiting at all!

We shopped a bit but mostly we were starving so we zipped though. I did get some throw away gloves and some shiny new Oofos....

Posed for the obligatory expo photo...

Checked out the inappropriate race map...

It really was all a breeze, and we had lunch right outside the expo. We are all pretty exhausted, and my roomie is threatening to steal my awesome race shirt. It's been a great day!

We are resting now and putting together a game plan for tonight's dinner and tomorrow's museum visits.

Have you seen the marathon shirts? What do you think of them?

Packing for MCM 10k

It is finally time to pack up for tomorrow's trip to Washington DC for the Marine Corps Marathon....10k. I'm still super weepy about it, especially the last few days, but I'm determined to have fun anyway!

Packing for a race weekend is always crazy, and usually involves about 25 trips up and down the stairs to get the stuff I inevitably forget to bring up with me when I pack.

I always pack my shoes first. These are the worst thing to buy if you forget them! These are still a little too new for long distances but will work great for a 10k!

I love these bags, I have one for my shoes, one for my race day outfit, and one for all of my creams, gels, and moleskin...etc.

The race outfit. I ordered a new skirt with leggings attached, but it didn't come in time because I didn't order it in time. I shouldn't freeze too much, though. Of course I also packed my hydration belt and my BibBoards.
I have a MDA hat, but I wanted to represent my Running Club. I also included a Road ID (if you don't have one, get onea) and a Momentum Jewelry bracelet, which I wear every day
(I have about 4 or 5).

My entire race day outfit goes in my carry on. Everything else will get checked.

Post race outfit, so I'm comfy when I cheer my friends on, and so they can find me! The shirt is from my running club.

This is my Saturday, I'm going to see all the museum things, outfit.

This is my airport outfit for the trip home. Super comfy.

I get these at Walmart for $1 each. There are 8 total, 2 for each of the peeps I'm going with.

Extra hat, just in case, plus a print out of the race info... sans ads...

Because you just never know what you'll need!

I'm ready to go!

Have I forgotten anything important?

Training Update

This weekend is Marine Corps. I'm definitely having mixed emotions. While I'm glad I can run the 10k, I'm devastated that I cannot run the Marathon. Did I give up too soon? Should I have pushed harder and attempted to continue training?
No, I definitely made the right decision, but it's still really hard!
Hey, my team is in 2nd place for fundraising, though!

Last week was an interesting week for me. I started teaching yoga at a local dance studio. As a new teacher, I offered a really low drop in rate, basically just enough so that I can hopefully cover the room rental fee.

Monday: 45 minutes of yoga. I went through the poses I wanted to use at my first class.

Tuesday: 3 mile run and a 1 mile walk

Wednesday: 45 minutes of yoga... my first class! Omg I had enough people to cover rent with a little left over!

Thursday: more yoga! 30 minutes of review in the morning plus a 45 minute class at night! Wow!

Friday: more yoga. A quick review plus a 45 minute class. I'm hoping to get a better balance in the weeks to come, but I'm so happy that people are liking my classes!

Saturday: 5 mile run and almost 2 mile walk with my pace group. Then I hopped a plane to Jersey to see my daughter in her college musical

Sunday: ran around with my daughter and her bestie to work on wedding plans. So much fun!

I'm exhausted today from all the travel!

What did you do last week to keep your body moving?
