Teaching Yoga with Buff CoolNet UV+

I received a Buff with CoolNet UV+: as part of being a BibRave Pro. Check out BibRave.com to find and write race reviews.

This summer I began teaching yoga at our neighborhood pool. The pool doesn't open until 9, and it is crazy hot here by then, so we meet at 8 in the parking lot. Classy, right? Free yoga is free yoga, though, and everyone is okay with it! Plus, the lot is somewhat shady and the pool is not shady at all.

I said somewhat, right? It gets sunnier as the hour goes by, so I am definitely in need of some protection!

Isn't it beautiful?!? I am in love with this Buff!
These are made for hot weather, with UPF sun protection of 50+. The material is so light, you barely notice it, and it is super stretchy! It is very easy to manipulate it until you have it on just right. The material is made from recycled water bottles! That just blows my mind. Most importantly, the cooling effect keeps you cool while you work out. Or while you teach yoga in a parking lot in the SC sun.

The Buff with CoolNet comes in a lot of colors and patterns. It was easy to choose mine, since I had a purpose in mind, otherwise I might have had some trouble. Y'all, there are 186 to choose from. For real. From solids, to rainbows, with everything in between, Buff has something for everyone.

Which Buff will you choose? Order here for 15% off!

Counting Down to the Downtown Westfield 5k & Pizza Extravaganza

I received entry in to the Downtown Westfield 5k and Pizza Extravaganza as part of being a BIBRAVE Pro (Ambassador). Check out BIBRAVE.com to find and write race reviews.

One month from today I will be running back in NJ, a local 5k that coincides with my trip to Jersey for my daughter’s wedding. I have run this race before, and it just about killed me. When I lived in Jersey,  I ran at the beach, which was mostly flat. Westfield is a little hilly. Now that I’ve had time to train for it on the hills of Charlotte, I’m curious to see how I’ll feel about those hills! This fun race is held at night and the whole town comes out. Businesses set up tables and there is pizza at the end!

There are a few other things I’m excited for on this trip, besides the pizza of course....

Best cupcakes ever, found in Asbury Park!

Any beach will do, I miss the smell of the ocean, but I do not miss that traffic or the attitudes of the tourists!

Pork Roll, egg, and cheese on a hard roll! Yummmmm

Anyway, click on the link at the top of this post and join me for a fun, night time 5k!

World Refugee Day Virtual 5k

I received entry into the World Refugee Day 5K as part of being a BibRave Pro. Check out BibRave.com to find and write race reviews.

The Pros at BibRave got together with our good friends at Soul Focus to get the word out about this amazing Virtual Race. There is still time to sign up, but act fast! It only runs until Thursday!!

The actual live event takes place in Uganda, where over 1000 runners get together to race! The race actually takes place at the Nakivale Refugee Settlement.
You can run or walk your race anywhere! Grab some friends or go out for some quiet time. The choice is yours! That's the glory of a Virtual Race. Have you ever run one? Each event is different, but also very similar. During the time period set forth by the race (or, honestly, whatever works best for you) you run the predetermined distance. Some races choose a distance, some give choices. Fit that distance into your schedule, take some pics, and enjoy your swag.
I ran my race on Saturday with my running club, and might have done some celebrating afterwards!

And yes. I said swag. Every race is different, and I often decide by what the swag is. This one was a no brainer. Boco Gear made it. In case you missed it, I am obsessed with Boco Gear. I could not register fast enough.

Each race will also have a time period for when they ship out your gear. Some ship it out frequently so that you'll have it on race day. Others wait until race day, and ship it out all at once. This race is shipping out after race day, so start stalking that mailbox a little while after the 20th.

If you haven't registered yet, head over to their website, and use the code BR5 for $5 off. You'll be helping so many, plus you'll be exercising and getting a super cool hat!

I'm not the only Pro running this event! Check out what my friends did:

Training Update

I’m starting to approach those double digit long runs for Berlin Marathon training, and I’m trying to mix up my workouts and I’m totally failing!

Monday I did a mile for #StreakingWithTheCoolKids

Tuesday I coached the half marathon runners in the morning and the 5k runners at night. I ended up with 5.5 total miles plus some squats and lunges.

Wednesday is yoga day! I teach in the morning and then do self care stuff all afternoon... breakfast at Panera, window shopping, binge watch some TV...

Thursday I coached again, half marathon and 5k runners plus I teach yoga at night after the 5k program!  Exhausting!

Friday I needed to recover from that crazy Thursday, plus grocery shop, so I walked a mile and then headed out.

Saturday was long run day. My club met at 7 so I went early and got in 3 miles, ran 3.2 with my group, goofed around way too long, and went out for two more. Those last two sucked but I got it done.

Sunday was just a quick mile for my streak! 7 weeks of streaking done!

What is your favorite workout? I think I might have to check Groupon for something fun!

Land of Oz, Beech Mountain NC

During my birthday month, the hubs got tickets so that we could visit the Land of Oz. It is in Beech Mountain and they are only opening for a limited time each year. We have been wanting to go ever since we moved here and today was the day!

After some uncomfy moments with a very rude ticket taker (seriously, she needs a new job!) we boarded the bus and headed to Oz. It was raining, which made the show that they put on a little hard to hear, but we had a good time. It was fairly cheesy, but lots of fun, and the two actors that played Dorothy and the Wizard, were really talented. They do a Fall show as well, and we may go back and try that one.
Here are some pics from our day...
