Global Running Day 24 Hour Virtual Relay

I received entry into the Global Running Day 24 Hour Virtual Relay as part of being a BibRave Pro (ambassador). Check out BibRave.com to find and write race reviews.

June 3rd is Global Running Day, a glorious day where runners all over the world celebrate being a runner, talk about being a runner, run.... how is this different than any other day? That’s irrelevant. Moving on.
To celebrate this amazing day, the Rochester Running Company has organized this Virtual event so that we can all join together and run with each other, but apart. Let me tell you, I’ve just started back running after that ridiculous injury, and I am all about this event!
Let me break it down for you!

1. Register at global24hourrelay.com and pick your city. I picked DC because I just love Washington DC! There are all kinds of major cities to choose from, so pick the one that makes you the most happy. Like DC. Pick DC.

2. Choose your slot. This is a 24 hour relay so the slots range from midnight until.... well... midnight. Basically 12:01 am on June 3rd to 11:59 pm. The middle of the night legs are $5 less. Consider that your badass runner discount.

3. When your teammate from the pervious leg messages you, it’s time to run! You run or walk for 30 minutes and then message your next teammate to let them know it’s time for them to go!

4. Enjoy your swag, and cross your fingers! There’s a raffle!

Did I say swag?
Yeah, I did!

There is a medal and a tee, of course! What race would be the same without those!!

So who will be signing up? Don’t forget to choose the city you love most (DC! Choose DC!) and pick the dot that works best for your schedule!

Have fun!! Post pics! Look for mine!

Training Update

With no true races on the horizon right now, I’ve decided I’m training to prepare for the next running season. Everything is so uncertain, but I’m hoping to have some runners in my pace group when we start back up on June 6th. So many precautions are being put into place, so hopefully everyone feels safe enough to return!
Anyway, let’s get on with it. Trigger warning: Peloton

Monday: the hubs and I went camping and we went on a short walk around the campground.

Tuesday: We hiked the trail at the campground, my farthest distance since my re-injury.

Wednesday: PT and then I tried out the Peloton app and did a 5 minute meditation and a 20 minute yoga class.

My Peloton arrived on Thursday! Hooray! They brought it into the garage (Covid restrictions).
I taught yoga that morning on Zoom, and tried the Peloton in the garage but it was too hot and I didn’t last more than 5 minutes. The hubs and the Boy brought it upstairs for me and then I was able to try it out properly.

I did a 20 minute beginner ride and a 5 minute stretch. Clipping in and out is hard, y’all,  it I’m getting better at it. I plan to do a proper review after I’ve done 25 rides. I’m at 6 right now and haven’t ridden today.

Friday: 50 minutes of PT with Jacob, where he tortured me and poked at me and have me permission to run! Twice a week, half mile to start. Woohoo!
Came home and did a 20 minute scenic ride, 5 minute stretch, and 5 minute meditation.

Saturday I did a live ride for the first time. I started with a warmup ride. My friend Meridith invited me, and she gave me a bunch of high fives during the ride, which was fun. The ride itself was hilly and I wanted to die. I did not. I also did a 5 minute stretch afterwards.
I also ran my first half mile, pain free!

Sunday was a rest day, so obviously I did a 10 minute low impact ride, followed by a 10 minute upper body workout and a 5 minute stretch.

So, a lot of Peloton. I’m seriously addicted and right after I press Publish, I’m going upstairs for another ride. If you’re thinking of getting one, I have a code for $100 off!

Every little bit helps!!

What was your favorite workout from last week?
