Thursday Training Update

I am still trying to get my groove back, I never realized how time consuming a move can be. This weekend, we go back to Jersey for the last of our stuff, and then hopefully I can focus on myself for a change!
I am loving the runs I manage to squeeze in. I have been keeping them short, since it is very hilly here. I am so not used to hills, so I walk a lot, but my pace is not terrible.

Monday Morning Mayhem

This is a cry for help.
For real, people.
My fitbit stopped working! It is two months old, and has quit. I don't think it could take the pressure of my mammoth 12k a day challenge!
Everything I try fails, and I am in contact with the company right now, trying to get a replacement. I am hoping the storied of incredible customer service are true!
I am at a loss as to what I should do. Do I move? Do I sit still? If a person takes steps without her fitbit, are they really steps at all?
Luckily, my phone counts steps, but I'm out of every challenge I was part of right now, which just breaks my heart.
Ok.
I can do this.
Deep cleansing breaths.
I'm going to move now.
I hope your Monday starts off better than mine did!

Thursday Training Update

I am trying to get back into the swing of things, and it hasn't been easy. We are still unpacking, and there is so much still to be done. I finally managed to find my DVDs, and the DVD player ia all set up. The garage gym is starting to take shape as well, but it has a long way to go. There have been a lot of dog walks, and my step streak is still alive.
I hope to start checking out some running and yoga nights at some of the pubs in Charlotte soon.

Almost Wordless Wednesday, Zooma Run Love Challenge

This past weekend was the Zooma Run Love Challenge, a virtual race with the option to run a 5k or a 10k. I had initially planned to run a 10k, but with the move I changed plans. I haven't been running regularly and I knew a 10k in my hilly new neighborhood would end poorly. So.
I found a local 5k and ran with 160 of my new running friends.

Flat Mama Friday

Wow, I haven't had one of these since Disney! Tomorrow i am race day registering for  a local 5k, the Cupid 5k on Fort Mill, SC. It will be my first race in my new home town area, and I'm dying to see some new local runners! It will be so strange going to a race and not knowing anyone!

Thursday Training Update

This week has been nuts! I am trying to keep track of work outs, but they are few and far between right now!
Thursday of last week: packing!
Friday: errands and packing. We closed on the new house. Hooray!
Saturday: load the truck. This was a 12 hour workout with a fee breaks for food.
Sunday: drive 12 hours to SC. Every time we stopped, I would park as far as possible and walk to the store or rest area to get in my steps. When we arrived, we unloaded a few things so we could be comfortable overnight.
Monday: unloading the truck. We had help with the loading, but it was just the three of us unloading, so it took longer. We broke for lunch and also when it rained briefly, so it was basically another 12 hour day. We also walked the dogs on the trail behind our house, which is very hilly.
Tuesday: unpacking. I went up and down the stairs 37 times.
Wednesday: dog walk and lots of unpacking. My son is helping a little but the hubs is at work so it's mostly me. Breaks for errands.
Thursday: mostly unpacking today and some errands. The boy came with me to walk the dogs on the trail and we walked fast, averaging less than 12 minutes per mile!

We Made it to South Carolina!

Somehow I have still managed to get my 12k steps a day, and yesterday was day 50! Today we are unloading the truck, be ready for a Wordless Wednesday full of house pictures!
For now I will leave you with some pics from our walk on the Carolina Thread Trail, which runs through or development and behind our house.
Race season fast approaches and the training will continue. Plus, the boy and I will be running together and we will be attempting to cut gluten out of our diets. Should be very interesting!

Running Besties

Today is Friends Day on Facebook, and my little video was filled with mostly running besties. Does it get any better than that? I don't think so.
This was especially emotional for me, and anyone who reads regularly knows why. On Sunday we are moving.
I'm tearing up while I type this.
We aren't merely moving out of town, we are moving out of state. From the Jersey Shore to a suburb of Charlotte, NC. Yup. This Jersey Girl is moving to South Carolina, to a town called Lancaster.
Holy heck.
We are moving away from friends, family, the town I was born and raised in.
We are moving away from my besties.
These are the girls who know me at my best, and at my worst. The girls who pushed me when I needed it, and let me walk when I needed it. So many selfies, so little miles.
When I toe the line at my next "local" race, I probably won't know anyone... usually I know at least three people, and often I know at least a dozen.
Someone get me a kleenex.
I love you all, my running besties. You know who you are, but I'm posting your picture anyway. If I leave anyone out, I apologize.
There are a lot of pictures, because some are just too awesome to leave out. My friends are pretty great!
