Berlin Marathon Training Update

I cannot believe I have started training for the Berlin Marathon!!

I’m really enjoying the early weeks of training, and by enjoying,  I mean doing as little as possible. Let’s be honest, I’m no workout beast!

Monday was a simple one mile walk. We did a lot on Easter Sunday so I was taking it easy.

Tuesday was a three mile run. I ran at home, which meant a speedier run than when I coach.

Wednesday was yoga day. I also coached Girls on the Run, but we had our season end party, so we were just goofing off. No running!

Thursday was 3 more miles at home, plus a 1 mile walk. Another run that was faster than usual.

Friday I started T:20 and it just about killed me. I have to order the step because the one I have just isn’t cutting it. Hopefully I don’t regret it! Ouch!

Saturday was long run day, and by long run I mean four miles. I love early marathon training. I may have mentioned that. We walked a mile, ran three, and walked another half mile, for a total of 4.5 miles. Then we had Starbucks for breakfast.

Sunday we ran a lot of errands. I got very few steps and barely moved at all. It didn’t suck.
This week we begin the BIBRAVE and Strava streak on Wednesday.

Will you be streaking with us?!?

Five Friday Favorites

No race this weekend means no Flat Mama Friday, so I thought I would show you five things I’m loving this week and one thing I’m trying out!

1. Goat Yoga! I tried this last weekend and I’m hooked! I’m going again on Mother’s Day Weekend!

2. My new Momentum wraps. I can’t get enough!!

3. Puppacinos at Starbucks. For real, it’s the little things.

4. Transform:20 it really kicked my butt! I need the step, which I hate having to buy, but my current step isn’t working. It’s the Wave from the Firm and it arches, so it’s not real safe for these workouts!

5. The weekend! It’s been a crazy week and and I’m ready for some fun! (and no, fun is not my first favorite F word!)

Something I'll be trying: Runderwear! I will be trying these out on tomorrow's run! Stay Tuned!

What are  you loving this week?

Trail Hiking with the Pups and The Stunt Puppy Nano Bowl

I received the Stunt Puppy Nano Bowl as part of being a BibRave Pro (Ambassador). Check out BibRave.com to find and write race reviews!

It's Spring in the South y'all, or what I like to call Sprimmer. It's cool out for about 5 minutes and then it hits the 80s. Oh, and the humidity. We mustn't forget the humidity. The Carolina Thread Trail runs right behind my house, so we hike it a lot. Also, it gets to be about 5 to 10 degrees cooler in the shady bits, which doesn't hurt!
Over the years we have tried different ways to give the pups water while we hike the trail, and none of them have really worked all that well. They have been too big and bulky, they have leaked all over the place, or fallen apart.
And then along came the Nano Bowl.

Doesn't look like much, does it..... Until you unfold it! Once unfolded, it is 5 inches wide and 5 inches deep. Even the Corgi got his fat nose in there! It held its shape beautifully, through all 3 dogs drinking from it! It weighs an ounce. One ounce! I kept in the pocket of my Skirt Sports skirt, and you could hardly tell it was there!

The Nano Bowl is made from Nanopore, it's waterproof and FDA certified non toxic and chemical free. SO important for our furry family! It holds 28 ounces of water!

Each Nano Bowl is made in the USA with fabric also made in the USA! The fabric is stain resistant, antibacterial, and hypoallergenic, and it is hand and machine washable!

This will definitely be coming with us on all of our adventures! No more pouring water into a cupped hand. (you know you've done it! And that hand holds way less than 28 ounces!) Get yours today! Be sure to check out all of the other amazing products that Stunt Puppy makes! Memphis the Corgi wears his collar proudly every day and we love the Stunt Runner leash for hands free walks and runs!

Where is your favorite spot to take your pups?

Camp Care 5k and Goat Yoga!

Today was my Trail 5k race and then later that afternoon I was signed up for Goat Yoga at a local park. The race started deliciously late, so I got to seep until 7 and take my time getting out of the house. Glorious! The course was very well marked, and very low key, with lots of walkers and people pushing strollers. It was cold and damp, but luckily it didn’t rain!
This was my first official long run of my Berlin Marathon training plan, so my goal pace was 15 minutes per mile. I wasn’t expecting much, since it was a trail race and had some hills. I certainly wasn’t expecting a PR, it was my fastest trail 5k..... ever!

After the race, I came home and took a shower, and then got back in the car and went to Goat Yoga. Just as it was time to go I had some gastric issues (I ate ice cream at the race) causing me to leave a little later then planned. Then a Road was closed, causing me to have to double back a few miles. It started pouring. By the time I arrived, just as it was supposed to start, I was near tears. Because of the rain, they delayed, so it all worked out! We started a bit late, but it was so worth it! It started raining as we were leaving which was fine with me! I will leave you with some pics, you have to try this if you can!

Flat Mama Friday, Camp Care 5k

Tomorrow morning is the Camp Care 5k, at McAlpine Creek Park. I love running at McAlpine, the trail is pretty much rock free, and not too hilly. Plus, you get to run around his really pretty lake. Since my only Trail 5k this year was a hot muddy mess, I’m pretty sure I’ll PR for the year. Oh, and it’s an Easter race with a Star Wars twist. I feel like I’m winning before I even start.

I’m also doing Goat Yoga for the first time tomorrow, but I haven’t chosen what I’m going to wear yet. Nothing I love, since it can get dirty. Stay tuned.....
