Cyber Monday for Runners

You gotta love Black Friday weekend for deals and sales, but even better is Cyber Monday! You can sit in your house in your pajamas or your sweats, grab your phone or your laptop, and shop all day long. I won't inundate you with tons of websites today, since I'm sure your email is blowing up like mine is, but I will share a few of my favorites!

If you are still planning your 2018 races, check out my discount page, right here on the blog. I just updated it this morning, so it should be accurate, and it is filled with links and discount codes for races all over the country.
Some are having bonus deals just for today...

Illinois Marathon - The BibRave code "2018bibravebonus" will adjust to provide a 10% discount (from our usual $5 off) for the entire day of November 27.
Tobacco Road - Score a deal on your race registration on Black Friday with code "bibrave1" for $20 off!
One America 500 Festival Mini-Marathon: From now through 11:59 pm ET on Cyber Monday, everyone that registers for the 2018 #IndyMini will receive a free holiday ornament that’s a miniature version of the 2018 Indy Mini medal. Like the 2018 medal, the ornament is in the shape of milk bottle, is two sided and features Meb’s signature on one side and participant facts on the other side. Ornaments will be shipped in mid-December and are expected to arrive before December 24. They will all come in a commemorative gift box. Also, don't forget the BibRave code to promote is "BRP2018" for $5 off!
More Info: http://www.indymini.com/blog/index.php/2017/11/23/black-friday-offer/

Once you've chosen your races, head over to my favorite source for cute clothes! Skirt Sports is having a great Black Friday sale and today only you can get an extra 10% off everything in your cart with the code BLACKFRIDAY. This is the only code you can use today, you cannot combine it.

See? Not too many, just enough to get you started! Now I am off to do my own shopping before I start writing up my Christmas Cards!

Happy Shopping!

What deal are you most excited about today?

Flat Mama.... Wednesday?

I know, it's so bizarre, but when you are racing on the most popular race at all year, it calls for a early Flat Mama.

I have a busy long weekend ahead of me!
Tomorrow is the Turkey Dash in South Charlotte, a 4 mile race that I'll be running with a bunch of my fellow run groupies.
I'll be wearing a fun turkey inspired costume...

The socks will likely be hidden by my pants since they have such a wide bottom leg, but i couldn't resist!

On Friday, I will be running a 12 hour event that is raising money for Girls On the Run and Let Me Run. I plan to run 20 miles and that's it. I won't be staying for the whole 12 hours, except maybe to help out once I'm done.

I figure I may as well look cute while I suffer, right? I will need to layer, since it will be in the 30s when I start and the 50s when I finish.

Are you running any races this long weekend?

Marathon Training with Health Warrior

I received 2 boxes of Health Warrior bars and a fabulous coloring book as part of being a BibRave Pro (ambassador). Check out BibRave.com to read and write race reviews.

Training is chugging along nicely, I've been working hard to keep as many runs below 14 minutes per mile as possible. This is the pace I need to Beat the Bridge when I run Marine Corps next Fall.
Part of training is making sure you're fueling right. I've been trying to work healthy snacks into my day, and Health Warrior has really helped with that. I wasn't sure how I would like the Chia Seeds. I am definitely someone who has texture issues with food, but I love these bars!

I've been taking them to Girls on the Run practices and when I volunteer at the library! 100 calories of Superfood is just what I need on those late afternoons!

And then there is the coloring book. I have been having so much fun with it. I don't want to ruin the surprise, so I am only including one picture. It is a marathon training ABCs book that every runner should have. You can get yours here.... with a purchase of Health Warrior bars.

I have tried the Apple Cinnamon and the Dark Chocolate. Those who know me best will know my fave.....
Apple Cinnamon! You thought I would pick the chocolate, but the Apple Cinnamon is just so tasty!

A few bonuses....
Vegan
Gluten Free
Soy Free
Dairy Free
Non GMO
Super super tasty

And did I mention the free coloring book?

Okay, let's get to last week's workouts.

Wednesday I did a Booty Workout from a group I'm in and basically walked around with a sore butt for days. Then I sent my Garmin in to be replaced and basically cried. Tell me I'm not the only one who is in love with her watch? The new one should be here this weekend, and I have a loaner, but I really miss my watch!

Thursday was supposed to be a training run but I woke up with a sore throat and bailed. I had a race coming up and I couldn't be sick!

Friday was some walking to get my steps in, mostly around the Charlotte Marathon expo...

Saturday was the half marathon. I was pacing a runner for the first half of her marathon and she did such a great job!I'm so proud! My pace was under 14 minutes, even with some extra walking at the end. It was super cold and my asthma was kicking in.

Then we cheered on the marathoners...

Before getting together for lunch.

I love my running family.

Sunday was a rest day. Those hills killed me. It was also Friendsgiving and my parents arrived for a visit.

Monday was for visiting.

Tuesday I ran 4 miles bright and early and killed those hills.

Then spent the day with my mom. Wednesday was more visiting although I did get my steps in.

Kind of a lazy week, but I plan to work really hard this week to make up for it!

How do you squeeze in workouts and good food choices when you have overnight guests?

Flat Mama Friday Charlotte Marathon

For those that may not know, I'm a running coach for an awesome store in the Charlotte area called Run For Your Life. Our goal race is tomorrow and there will be 70ish people from our group running either the half or the full. I will be running the half and then heading over to mile 21 to cheer for our runners.

Today I met one of my clients at the expo and we had way too much fun!

I also did a little shopping...

Made a sign....

And got some free swag...

It's going to be literally freezing here in the South tomorrow so I'm bundling up!

What race are you running this weekend? What will the weather be like?
