Pre Triathlon Training with Coros Pace Watch

I received a Coros Pace Watch as part of being a BibRave Pro (ambassador). Check out BibRave.com to read and write race reviews.

One of the fears I'll be facing in 2018 is my first triathlon. I'm super wary of open water so I chose a beginner's sprint triathlon called the Ramblin Rose. It had a pool swim instead of open water, although I hear it can be pretty rough!
When I was given the chance to try out a brand new multi sport watch, I leaped on the chance to try it out!

My first test run was the Girls on the Run 5k. I might have forgotten to switch the watch from kilometers to miles, so that was one interesting run! The watch band is super comfy, and once I got past the fact that the start button position varies from my former watch, it was super easy to use!

Next I wanted to try the pool swim feature. I put in the wrong measurement for the pool (I really do suck at life sometimes) but it was still fun to swim with a watch instead of checking the clock and counting my laps!

I also sort of checked out the cycling feature. My bike had a flat and I ended up on the trail instead. Training hasn't officially started yet so I totally bailed!

I've been using the watch for about a month now and I'm totally in love!
Let's talk about some of the features!

It has a built in heart rate monitor so you don't have to wear a heart monitor strap. This is huge for runners who train by heart rate! I used a strap a few times and it chafed like crazy. Yuck! You can also adjust your reserve and max heart rate, but I'm not that cool so I left it as it was.

After your run, you can check out your data. This watch syncs crazy fast all on its own. I've never had to play around with my bluetooth to get it to sync. Winning!

The battery also lasts crazy long. Crazy. Long. I've charged it twice in a month. Twice, y'all. I'm using it 4 and 5 times a week. It lasts 25 hours in GPS mode and 30 days in standard mode. I have notifications turned off but that heart rate function is on all the time. I'm seriously dying over this.

The elevation readings are super insane. The Pace features a barometric altimeter so it uses barometric pressure to determine your elevation. What? That's crazy!

Pace uses GPS, GLONASS, and BDS satellites to locate your position and adjust your altitude no matter where you are. I've had no problem getting a signal, even on Crowder's Mountain!

For the runners out there, the data you get after your run includes cadence, stride length, pace, strike rate, and SWOLF, so you can figure out where you need improvement, and where you are rocking your run. All of this terrifies me, I like to think I'm perfection on the road. Seriously. How is this not perfection?

But if I were to decide that I needed improvement, all of the data I need would be right there for me to analyze!

You can get your watch in 3 colors... the beautiful red and black, black and grey, or blue and black.

I know there is so much info I'm leaving out, I plan on writing another post about it once the next update comes out. More amazing things are to come from this company!

What's the mot important feature you look for in a training watch?

#LiveMoreNow with Buff, Family Edition

I received Buff products as part of being a BibRave pro (Ambassador). Check out BibRave.com to read and write race reviews!

My daughter is visiting from New Jersey this week, and besides hardcore watching Super Hero movies, we also like to get outdoors! We considered hitting Crowders Mountain, but Morgan slept in, so we decided to hike the Carolina Thread Trail instead.

It's hot and humid in the South, so we watch chose one of my Buff products and hit the trail with our photographer... ok, the hubs...

Our Corgi also loves the trail. So many smells, creatures, and other hikers... who he always manages to con into petting him!

My favorite part of the trail is the suspension bridge that connects South and North Carolina. They even have signs on the bridge so you know when you've crossed over. The bridge sways a lot as you cross it....

But you can't beat the view!

Okay, maybe after a storm the view is a little hectic! We have had a lot of rain and wind this past week. We definitely had a great time out on the trail, especially thanks to our Buff products, which kept the sweat out of our eyes and the sun off of my head!

How are you Living More Now this weekend?

Check back next week. I'll be traveling to Colorado for some crazy adventures, including yoga, hiking, and a half marathon that is all downhill!

Marine Corps Marathon Training Starts Today!

Oh.my.heck.
The day has finally come, today I started Marine Corps Marathon Training!

Okay, so I was only supposed to do 3 and I did 6, but I have a half marathon in Colorado next week and I wanted one more kind of long run beforehand!

I'm looking forward to starting a new training program, especially now that I'm pain free!

I've even been doing yoga fairly often and added Body Pump once a week.
This girl is gonna beat that bridge!

What race are you training for?

Race Volunteering with Buff #livemorenow

I received Buff products as part of being a BibRave Pro. (Ambassador) Check out BibRave.com to read and write race reviews!

As a runner who loves to race, it's hard to imagine going to one and not... well... racing. No starting line? No camaraderie? No finish? No....gasp... bling?

Awhile back I was registered to run RnR NOLA, but I was injured and couldn't run. A friend suggested I volunteer with her running club at a water stop and I had so much fun! I knew i would have to do it again someday!

Since my running club is in the off season, my Saturdays are free, so I volunteered at a local Trail Half Marathon, the Swampy Pond. This year it was dubbed Train Wreck....

That's not what you were expecting, was it? A train derailed and some debris actually fell onto the Greenway where the race was being held. They came up with a quick plan, and the race went off with a modified course.

We ended up being the only water stop on the loop, so we were pretty busy. There was an 8k and a half marathon, and they shared the same course. The half marathoners ran a small separate loop and then ran the 8k loop twice.

Volunteering is hard, y'all. There were 4 of us and sometimes we couldn't keep up. We had cups of water and also larger bottles to refill their water bottles and their hydration packs.

That's where Buff came in. My Buff with insect shield and UV protection kept my scalp from getting burned and kept the bugs out of my face. We were out in direct sunlight, in the woods, and it was swampy. My Buff was a life saver!
Thanks to my Buff, I could make sure this gal...

...was hydrated enough to win the whole thing! She was a rock star!

It was such a rewarding morning, thanks to Buff for helping me to Live More Now, while I helped those runners to Live More Now!

Have you ever volunteered at a race?

Marine Corps Marathon Training Begins!

Today kicked off Marine Corps Marathon training! I'll be using the training plan that my running club puts out each season, tweaking the dates to fit, since I'll be coaching it anyway!

Today's run was 3 miles, which I maybe kind of sort of did extra...

I ran the Run!Ballantyne 8k today, so almost 5 miles was run instead.

I got to pee in an unused potty! This is a rare honor, which I gladly accepted.

Our team won largest team for the 3rd year in a row and the Team Captain gave us all Caribbean food afterwards!

And my pace was 13'35" which is MCM ready!

Woohoo!

Did you race this weekend?

Flat Mama Friday

Tomorrow is the Run! Ballantyne 8k! I had a lot of fun at this race last year, a lot of my running club enters the race, and it's a great way to reconnect before the new season starts up in June.

Thursday Training Update

Wow, I cannot believe Marine Corps Training officially starts this weekend! That's nuts! I've slowly been getting back into running from my strained tendon, and it's been rough, but I'm looking forward to following a training plan again!

Monday... I did Mirna's WAMM which was about 15 minutes long. Not too crazy. I also made it into an ad on Facebook for Skirt Sports, which was fun!

Tuesday... 3 miles at the track and day 2 of Mirna's workout!

Wednesday... 2.1 miles in the neighborhood and 30 minutes of yoga. I'm working on my 30 day streak, and I'm currently on day 9.

Thursday.... 3 miles in the hood and 30 minutes of yoga...

Friday.... 1 hour yoga class and 1 hour Body Pump

Saturday... 20 minute walk and some yoga. I volunteered at a race that day so no group run

Sunday... Mother's Day... I was registered for a 5k, but I slept in instead and had breakfast with the hubby and then went for a 5k hike to make up for it!
Also did some yoga to keep the streak alive!

Not a bad week, I gotta say! What was your favorite workout last week?
