Addicted to Races? You need the National Running Challenge!

If, like me, you have a race practically every weekend, you need the National Running Challenge!

The National Running Challenge, is a FREE challenge, for runners who like to run *official* races. Each series runs for several months, and after each official race, you enter your stats to earn points. Your finishing time does not matter! However, there needs to be an official results page. This is important, because two of the races I ran this year, plus a Color Run, did not have an official results page, so those races did not count!
As you add your races and earn points, you will climb the ladder in the standings! The Fall series is currently running, with races from September 14th to December 31st. Each distance has a points value, plus you get points for referrals.  Check out #10! Woot!

What else can you get besides bragging rights? PRIZES!!!!! If you come out on top, whether it is overall or age group, you might be eligible to win prizes! The prizes can be anything from gift cards to running related items!

This is a no brainer! I am so glad that they contacted me and told me about their awesome program!
When you sign up, be sure to list me as your referral, Kim Prytherch!
Start adding those races, maybe you will even beat me!

How many points did you earn??

A Kindrunner.com Christmas

Just in case you haven't heard of Kindrunner.com yet, I thought I would put up that little graphic from their site to let you know how it works!
Where do the donated shoes go? Soles4Souls takes care of that! They donate those shoes to people who don't have any of their own!
What a fabulous deal, right?
For every box of shoes you send back, you get a $10 credit to your kindrunner account, to be used on future purchases! It's the gift that keeps on giving!
Kindrunner is offering a special gift to all of their new customers this December! Simply email me at kprytherch@gmail.com and give your name and email address for me to pass on to kindrunner. They will send you an email with a coupon code worth up to $15 off your first pair of shoes!
They have so many to choose from, and if they don't have what you want, they will try to get it for you! They are awesome like that!
Looking for a new pair and don't know what you need? You can set up an appointment and they will help you figure it out over the phone!
They also have great video reviews of the shoes that they carry!
They carry gear as well!
What are you doing? Why are you still here? You should be emailing me for your coupon right now!

I am eagerly awaiting my 2nd pair of Brooks Adrenalines so that I will have 2 pairs for Disney! What is your favorite running shoe?

DigitalRunning.com

A few months ago I applied to become an Ambassador for DigitalRunning.com, thinking that with it being such a big program I had no chance. I love the challenges, and the features, so I thought I would give it a shot anyway.
At the end of September, I was amazed to receive an email telling me that out of over 50 applicants, I was one of the 5 Ambassadors chosen! Holy heck!
I was also excited to find that my good friend and fellow blogger Gigi from Running on Candy was also chosen! We are running several races together in 2014, and it will be even more fun to be running as twins! Why? Because, as Ambassadors, we were given gear to wear at our races!
Look familiar? I posted this for Wordless Wednesday!
I received a tee, tech tank, tech long sleeved shirt, running jacket, and a Bondi Band. Jealous yet?
Wondering, maybe, about DigitalRunning.com?
Some of the features of the website are:

  1. joining Team Events like Ragnar (although you do have to pay for the race fees and travel expenses)
  2. access to Challenges! I will talk more about these in more detail, but they have great medals you can earn! The sooner you sign up, the cheaper they are, because the price goes up as more people sign up.
  3. FREE training plans
  4. articles
  5. Member area to make it easier to find all of your challenges, etc in one place!
There will be a lot of Challenges this year, but for now, check out these to get 2014 started off right:

How do you earn this one? During 2014, run 3 out of the 4 following distances: 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon. (Hmmmmm…..Dopey, anyone?)
Easy, right? You have all year to get this done!
Remember how I mentioned that you need to sign up early? This race is currently at $20, with $25 being the maximum. Sign up soon to guarantee the $20 price here!

The Grand Slam is earned when you run all 4 of the distances above. (Dopey…….) during the 2014 racing season! Again, you have all year to earn this bad boy! (I will have this one in Disney in January, woot!) Oh, wait! Bonus: If you sign up for the Grand Slam, you automatically get the Hat Trick as well! That's right~ double bling! My neck is really going to ache after Dopey! I will have earned 8 medals over that long weekend!
This one is currently at $25, with $30 being the maximum. Register soon! You can sign up here!

ooooohhhhh a mystery medal! I might maybe kinda sorta already pretty much know what it will look like. You know, because I am special. It is awesome. Truly.
It is the Interstate Challenge, and it is easy to earn. Just run two marathons and/or half marathons in two different states or provinces to earn it. Again, you have all year!
This one is currently at $15, but it will jump to $20 soon (if it hasn't already!) with $25 being the maximum. Hurry!!!!!! Sign up here. I will post an official pic of the medal as soon as I have it!

Ok, I have saved the best for last!
If you are running Disney in January, and you are earning one of the first two medals I posted, there.is.a.party.
In Disney.
For real.
They have a Facebook event page and will be in Downtown Disney handing out the medals! They will be there from 6:00 until 8:00 so cruise on by and say hello! They will be hanging out near the PI Live Bar near Raglan Road! It is a FREE event, food and drink will be available for purchase at all of the usual Downtown Disney locations!

What challenge will you sign up for?

Navesink Challenge 15k

For the second year, my friend Eileen and I ran the Navesink Challenge, a 15k race that starts on a grassy field and then alternates between road and dirt paths. The only consistency? Hills. Lots of them!
A hill? Try many many many hills!
I arrived early and parked at the same lot as last year, about a half mile from the start. I got my bib and shirt and walked back to the car to stow my shirt and pin on my bib. Back to the start again and I already have almost 5000 steps on my FitBit!
I found Eileen and we lined up towards the back. Last year, it took us 1:50 to finish and we hoped to beat that this year! The weather was great at the start, it really was the perfect day to run the hills!
I kept an eye on my watch and we managed to maintain just over 11 minutes per mile. The hills slowed us down but we made up time on the downhills and the flat areas.
We met a few other runners and we saw Dave at mile 1.5 and 8 which passed the time!
The last two miles were touch and go. I was so tired and the hills were ever present! The course ends with a bumpy trail that is about 1/4 mile long. I tried my best to run it fast, but I wasn't sure I could beat last year's time.
My finishing time was 1:48, two minutes faster than last year!! Woooohoooo!
I was so tired but so happy!
When I got home and my FitBit synched, I was amused to see what all those hills looked like to my FitBit!

75 flights of stairs?
Nooooo, 84! Whoa! I ended the day with just over 30,000 steps!
To end the day perfectly, I convinced the hubs to hang the present my Dad made for me! It helped that my Dad was Facebooking us to see if it was hung yet.....
Isn't it fabulous!!!!!
It holds all of my Half Marathon medals, with room for tons more, and there are pegs for my Marathon medals along the bottom. I love it!

Did you race this weekend?
