I Won a Spartan Race Entry!

I am seriously excited. And terrified. And excited. But mostly terrified!

Running While Mommy hosted a giveaway, and I couldn't resist entering. I LOVE mud runs, and have tried several! Rugged Maniac, MudManX, a few local races, even. I have always veered away from Spartan. I felt like I wasn't ready. After my second, and more difficult Rugged Maniac, though, I knew I was ready for Spartan!
I was so excited to see that they giveaway extended to 2014. My Fall is booked solid, and I cannot fit in another race! June 2014 is a whole other ball game! Let the countdown begin!
I registered for the Tuxedo NY race, June 18, late morning. There are different kinds of Spartan Races, NY is a Sprint event.
3+ miles.
15+ obstacles.
Tee and Finisher Medal.
Oh, yeah. There will be bling.
I also signed up for the workout emails. If I wasn't terrified before, I would be now. These are some serious workouts! I will also be marathon training, so this will be one crazy schedule! I will start my training after Dopey recovery. For now, I will just whimper when the workouts come in. I might also hide under the bed. Just a little.

I will definitely need to work on my monkey bar skills. Seriously. I can scale most walls with little to no help, but I cannot get across the darn monkey bars. Sad, but true.
I get to leap over fire. This is, by far, my favorite thing to do during these races.
this looks painful!
I need a shirt that says this. I plan to chick at least one guy.

I am so pumped about this race, you have no idea! I will be sure to whine write about my training when I start! If anyone has any suggestions for how to train, please let me know! I bought this great book, Obstacle Race Training, and it includes training plans. I read part of it, but not all. I guess I better pull that bad boy back out!

I will leave you with a little something from the website:
Spartan Code:

  • A Spartan pushes their mind and body to their limits.
  • A Spartan masters their emotions.
  • A Spartan learns continuously.
  • A Spartan gives generously.
  • A Spartan leads.
  • A Spartan stands up for what they believe in, no matter the cost.
  • A Spartan knows their flaws as well as they know their strengths.
  • A Spartan proves themselves through actions, not words.
  • A Spartan lives every day as if it were their last.
