I couldn’t believe it when I got an email from the 24 Foundation about their Cancer Survivor and Thriver Retreat. I received it because I’ve fundraised for them in the past. I filled out the form immediately, I just knew it was exactly what I needed. The event took place on this beautiful farm in Rock Hill, SC. The location was stunning and so peaceful.

They started off by providing us with breakfast. There were so many choices! We got to meet other survivors and thrivers, and learn about what to expect for the day.

Our first activity after breakfast was a yoga class. We walked down to the creek area and set up on the turf. It was so peaceful and so beautiful, and the class was perfection.

After yoga, it was time for a craft. We went up to the house and got to create our project on the porch.

It was so peaceful, our instructor teaches at Levine for Cancer patients to have an outlet for all of the stress that goes with the diagnosis and the treatment. Afterwards, it was time for lunch. While we ate, some locals came and talked about healthy eating, and we did a taste test between fresh fruit from a local farm and the fruit you get at the grocery store.

Our post lunch activity was a choice between a journaling exercise or a sound bath. I chose the sound bath because I’ve never done that before and I was curious. We were told that we should lay down and get comfy. That we might fall asleep. I couldn’t imagine that at all. We had yoga mats, plus a cozy blanket that was part of our gift bag. The floor was cold, but I got comfy and the next thing I knew we were told to start sitting up. I slept through almost the whole thing!
This was followed by some time back on the porch learning about services Levine provides for Cancer patients, most of which I had no idea!

It really was the very best day, and so good for my soul. 24 Foundation did an amazing job, and I’m so grateful to them for this beautiful day that was all about us!
